The UC Davis Fuel Cell, Hydrogen, and Hybrid Vehicle (FCH2V) GATE Center of Excellence established in 2005 is focused on research, education, industrial collaboration and outreach within automotive technology. The FCH2V has awarded 5 outstanding fellows for 2006 - 2007 based on a competitive application round.

The Institute of Transportation Studies along with the College of Engineering are offering up to three Fellowships to qualified applicants as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Graduate Automotive Technology Education (GATE) Center of Excellence.

"Trinity," a highly fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid vehicle, was unveiled today by engineering students at the University of California, Davis. The vehicle is the team's entry in the national Challenge X competition, sponsored by General Motors Corp. and the U.S. Department of Energy.

The UC Davis Fuel Cell, Hydrogen, and Hybrid Vehicle (FCH2V) GATE Center of Excellence has launched a new website at http://gate.its.ucdavis.edu. The site will act as an umbrella for all research activity going on and education provided by the center and its affiliates.

The U.S. Department of Energy today announced the selection of eight universities that will receive $4.7 million to be Graduate Automotive Technology Education (GATE) Centers of Excellence. The goal of GATE is to train a future workforce of automotive engineering professionals to overcome technology barriers preventing the development and production of cost-effective, high-efficiency vehicles for the U.S. market.
